The Frankish Family

William Frankish   1819-1873

Saint Agnes Scott   1833-1888

John Walter Frankish, Hannah, William, Mary, and Elizabeth (Blenkin) Frankish

Information on the original William Frankish that came to Canada in the 1850s and his descendants is quite scarce. They had eleven children but most of them died as infants. Four of them got married but one went to Montreal and sort of disappeared. The other three that got married I do have some information on them.

One of them was John Walter Frankish who came west in 1897. He had four children but only two of them had any children. I have some information on this family as I married a grand daughter of his. There is a lot of information that I don't have but I am putting this down so that it will be available for anyone in the future who is looking for some information on the family.

The Frankish family came from north of Hull in Yorkshire, England. My ancestors came from this area in 1832 to Canada. In 1977 I was in this area looking for my family information. This is a farming area that was and still is noted for its race horses. In this area there are no fences and sheep are on the roads and in the villages. When you come out of a village store you might have to step over a sheep by the door or have to chase one away from behind your car. When I asked about this. I was told that some old land owner got the grazing rights some 400 years ago and the family still have them and nothing can be done about it.

The Frankish family were people that never kept in very close touch with one another and most have very little knowledge of their relatives. I hope this will be of some use to everyone that would like to know a little more about their relatives.

I would like to thank everyone that gave me family information as this has helped me greatly. Some families I don't have much information on so there is little here about them. I hope everyone who reads this gets a little knowledge of the Frankish family.
